Privacy Policy

Welcome to Siva (“Siva,” “we,” “us” or “our”). At Siva, we take data privacy seriously.

Our Privacy Policy details how we collect, use and share information on the Siva website and related mobile apps (collectively, the “Site”). This policy also explains how you can opt out of sharing certain information and what happens when you delete your account. Please read this document in its entirety and take it seriously

This Privacy Policy applies to all visitors, users, and others who access the Service (“Users”). By using our Site you understand and agree that we are providing a platform where you post content, including photos, comments and other materials (“User Content”).

Information Siva Collects

When you visit the Site, we may collect and store general, non-identifiable information about the pages you access, your general geographic location (e.g. a city, not a specific street address), the device you are using, an anonymised version of your IP address, and the address of websites that refer you to the Site. We also store your email address and User ID that you choose when you register for an account.

In addition to some of the specific uses of information detailed in this Privacy Policy, we may use the information we receive to:

  • Protect Siva and its Users from spam, viruses, identity theft, illegal or harmful activities.
  • Help you efficiently access your information after you sign in to your account
  • Monitor, test and improve the effectiveness of our Site
  • Develop and test features of the Site to ensure they are working effectively
  • Monitor metrics such as total number of visitors, page views, and demographic patterns
  • Diagnose or fix technology problems

We also collect any information you provide us if you choose to contact us directly, post on our Site or post on your profile, including any personally identifiable information. We will only use this information for the purpose you provided it. For example, to provide support or answer questions

Siva uses tools and third party services to gather and aggregate general information about anonymous user behaviour. These tools and services may use this information for the purpose of:

  • Evaluating your use of the site
  • Compiling reports on site activity
  • Providing other services relating to site activity and internet usage

These tools and services may also transfer this information to parties where required to do so by law, or where such additional parties process the information on the tool or third party service’s behalf. To the best of our knowledge, the tools or third party services used to gather information on Siva’s behalf collect information in such a way that neither Siva, nor the tools and services, can easily trace saved information back to any individual user.

Please be aware that there may be other services that you are using, and that are not controlled by Siva, that may continue to send information to third party service providers when you use the Site. These services may do this even if you have asked us not to send information. Examples of these external services that may collect or share information include Google, Google Chrome Web Browser, Apple Operating System and Android Operating System

Email Communications

Occasionally, we may email you information about Siva that we think is necessary and important for you to know. By opening or maintaining an account with Siva, you agree to receive administrative emails as part of your basic service. From time-to-time, we may also send nonadministrative or marketing emails that are either non-specific emails or personalised to your user preferences and site usage. You can always opt-out of these non-administrative and marketing emails.

If anyone ever contacts you to request your Siva password or login credentials, they are probably trying to scam you. Siva will never do this. Please don’t give your Siva password to anyone. In the case of this happening, we ask that you report the incident to us as soon as possible so that we can investigate and take suitable action against the perpetrator.

Information Sharing

We may share your information, including personal information, with third parties under specific circumstances including;

(1) if you tell us it is okay to do so, (2) if we believe that we need to do so to comply with applicable law or legal obligations, (3) if we contract with a third party service provider to offer services for you — for example, with a credit card processing company if you decide to buy something through the Site.

We will do our best to resist baseless legal requests to access information. However, we may access, preserve or disclose your information or content to satisfy a law, regulation, legal process, governmental request, or governmental order. Siva’s policy is to give you, the User, advance notice if we are going to release your information unless by law we are prohibited from or advised against doing so. If we think that by disclosing your information we may prevent serious harm to Siva, its Users, you, or anyone else, we may do so without notifying you. Finally, we may disclose your information if we believe it is necessary to detect, prevent, or otherwise address safety, fraud, or security concerns related to Siva.

Siva is a Public Network

The Site is a platform built for posting and sharing content publicly. You should assume that anything you post or upload on the Site other than private messages will be accessed by the public. Therefore, we ask that you do not share anything that you wouldn’t want to be seen in the public domain.

Search engines will be able to see the content you post and may index your user profile, user content or public interactions. Content you post may also be copied, shared, or re-posted on the site and on other areas of the internet in ways that you and we cannot control.

We have made it easy for you to delete posted content from your personal account. However, backups of your content may be stored on our servers for few weeks, even after it has been deleted, or after you delete your account.

Furthermore, deleting your account or specific content does not mean that your content hasn’t been copied or shared on the site, and on other areas of the internet by people or services that have nothing to do with the site. As a result, deleting published user content or your account does not mean any reshared or copied information will also be deleted.

We strongly suggest that you consider this when deciding what to post and what not to post on the site (or anywhere on the Internet, for that matter). Please post responsibly!

Data Storage and Deletion of Accounts and Data

We, or an authorised affiliate and/or service provider we work with to store data, may keep backups of Siva’s data and code, which may or may not include posts and other information that you published on the site, even after you have deleted your account. Although it will no longer be visible or publicly accessible on the site, please understand that your deleted content or profile information will remain on our servers for several weeks for backup, archival or audit purposes.

Siva does not knowingly collect or solicit any information from anyone under the age of 16 or knowingly allow such persons to register on the site. Our site is intended for the general public, but is not intended for or directed at children under the age of 16.

If you become aware that a child under the age of 16 is using the Site, or has posted/someone else has posted personal information about themselves or someone else under the age of 16 on the site, please contact us immediately. We will work to remove both the information and the child’s Siva account as quickly as possible.
